Abarth vehicles are renowned for their high performance and power, but first and foremost for being small and agile just like the Scorpion. Carlo Abarth founded Abarth & C with Guido Scagliarini in 1949. The first vehicle produced was the 204 A Roadster, based on the FIAT 1100. It immediately won the 1100 Sport Championship as well as Formula 2. Alongside racing, the company started to produce tuning kits that improved performance, power and speed of standard vehicles. In just a few years, Abarth & C. had 375 employees and production of around 300,000 exhaust systems a year. In the 1950s and throughout the 60s, the Abarth brand became synonymous with sport, tuning and performance, and changed the sports car world. The Abarth brand maintains its unique DNA, and is a synonym of performance, great driving pleasure and sporty appeal. The Scorpio creates unique vehicles and gives great emotion to whoever has the honor of driving these vehicles.
The new Abarth 124 spider guarantees all the thrills and fun that only a real spider can offer. Developed with the Abarth Racing team, the car perfectly embodies the leading values of the brand: performance, artisan craft, technical excellence. This is a car designed to put the smile back on the faces of those lucky enough to drive it.
For outstanding dynamic performance, the Abarth 124 Spider features a mechanical self-locking differential as standard equipment. Sophisticated mechanics and the use of special materials have been used to contain the weight to just 1060 kilograms, which results in a weight-to-power ratio of 6.2 kg/hp, the best in its category. Furthermore, the optimal weight distribution guarantees excellent feedback and agility. Under the bonnet is a powerful, ultra-reliable 1.4 litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with MultiAir technology. It delivers 170 hp (that's about 124 hp per litre) and 250 Nm of torque: it has a top speed of 232 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. The engine sound is a fundamental element of all Abarth cars, and standard equipment includes the Record Monza exhaust with dual mode system capable of modifying the path of the exhaust gas according to engine rpm and generating a satisfying, deep sound.
