Nadim Mehanna and his MotorShow team took the Jetour G700 for a comprehensive drive in the UAE.

 

 

The G700 represents one of the most ambitious vehicles yet from the Jetour lineup, positioned as a full-size luxury off-road SUV developed under the brand’s more premium and adventure-focused direction. Built on a body-on-frame platform and powered by a high-output plug-in hybrid system, the G700 enters a segment traditionally dominated by large petrol-powered SUVs, but approaches it with a noticeably different philosophy centered around electrification, technology, and versatility.

 

 

From the outside, the G700 immediately establishes a strong road presence. Its proportions are large and upright, measuring just over 5.1 meters in length with a width exceeding 2 meters, giving it the visual stance expected from a serious full-size SUV. The design combines squared-off surfaces with modern lighting elements and clean body lines, creating a look that feels rugged without becoming overly aggressive. High ground clearance, pronounced wheel arches, and the rear-mounted spare wheel further reinforce its off-road identity.

 

 

Under the hood, the G700 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid powertrain paired with dual electric motors, producing a combined output of approximately 904 horsepower and 1,135 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a dedicated 2-speed hybrid transmission and a full-time intelligent four-wheel-drive system. Despite its size and weight, acceleration is surprisingly strong, with the vehicle capable of reaching 100 km/h in around 4.6 to 4.8 seconds depending on specification.

 

 

What stands out from behind the wheel is not only the power itself, but how smoothly it is delivered. The electric motors provide immediate torque at lower speeds, making city driving and overtaking feel effortless, while the petrol engine integrates naturally when additional performance or range is needed. Rather than feeling abrupt or overly aggressive, the G700 maintains a composed and controlled driving character that suits its role as a long-distance luxury SUV.

 

 

The hybrid system also contributes significantly to overall usability. Equipped with a 34.1 kWh battery pack, the G700 can travel approximately 150 kilometers on electric power alone, while the total combined driving range can extend to around 1,400 kilometers under ideal conditions. Fast charging capability allows the battery to recharge from roughly 17% to 80% in approximately 10 minutes when connected to suitable high-speed charging infrastructure.

 

 

Off-road capability remains central to the vehicle’s identity. The G700 features a body-on-frame chassis, adaptive air suspension in higher trims, low-range functionality, and available front, rear, and center differential locking systems depending on specification. Ground clearance can vary between approximately 220 mm and 320 mm, while the vehicle also offers a wading depth approaching 900 mm. These figures position it as more than just a large urban SUV, giving it genuine capability in sand, rough terrain, and deeper off-road environments.

 

 

Despite its off-road focus, the G700 prioritizes comfort surprisingly well. The suspension absorbs uneven surfaces effectively, especially on highways and longer journeys, while cabin insulation helps maintain a quiet and refined environment. Steering is lighter than expected for a vehicle of this size, making the G700 easier to maneuver in urban environments than its dimensions might initially suggest.

 

 

Inside, the cabin adopts a technology-heavy layout centered around multiple digital displays, including a large 15.6-inch infotainment screen and an additional panoramic digital interface integrated across the dashboard. Material quality is well executed throughout the interior, with soft-touch finishes, leather seating, and a spacious six-seat configuration available in higher trims. Passenger comfort is clearly prioritized, particularly in the second row, where captain-style seating and additional comfort functions contribute to a more premium atmosphere.

 

 

Technology and driver-assistance systems are integrated extensively throughout the vehicle. The G700 includes adaptive cruise control, lane assistance systems, intelligent parking support, and Huawei-supported driver-assistance technology depending on market specification. These systems operate smoothly in the background and contribute to a more relaxed driving experience without becoming overly intrusive.

 

 

In markets like the Middle East, where buyers continue to value large SUVs with strong road presence and genuine off-road capability, the G700 introduces an alternative approach by combining traditional SUV architecture with a highly advanced plug-in hybrid system. It offers the size, power, and versatility expected in the segment while also introducing greater efficiency and modern electric driving characteristics.

 

 

The Jetour G700 ultimately presents itself as a technically ambitious and well-rounded SUV that successfully blends high-performance hybrid technology with real off-road capability and everyday practicality.

 

 

With over 900 hp, more than 1,100 Nm of torque, up to 1,400 kilometers of combined range, and a body-on-frame platform engineered for demanding terrain, it delivers a driving experience that feels both modern and capable without losing the usability expected from a full-size family SUV.
