Polaris has taken “razor-sharp performance” to another level with the 2016 lineup of RZR side-by-sides. The new machines stay true to the essence of the RZR family, but they also offer enough to get any UTV enthusiast excited. The new RZRs will be available in dealerships starting in August.
The most impressive announcement is about the new RZR XP Turbo. Polaris has completely redesigned the engine to provide more power than any RZR has ever had before (or any side-by-side at all, for that matter). In fact, nearly 80% of the Polaris ProStar Turbo engine is new compared to previous RZR engines. The result is that the RZR XP Turbo puts out up to 144 horsepower, the highest in the industry.
But pure speed improvements only constitute a small part of the overall story. The vehicle has an impressive acceleration rating, able to reach 60 mph in 5.89 seconds. Aside from having 30% more horsepower, the RZR XP Turbo also provides 45% more torque. As a result, the machine isn’t just optimized for high-speed thrills; it’s delivers an incredible experience for all types of riding. The engine has also been fine-tuned to provide a consistent performance regardless of altitude or temperature.
To match the improvements in engine power, Polaris has also outfitted the RZR XP Turbo with an improved suspension, featuring Fox Podium Internal Bypass Shocks and bigger coil-over springs. The machine also sports a new transmission and driveline, allowing the engine’s power to be properly harnessed and utilized.
