The 2025 XPENG G9 marks a significant milestone in XPENG’s evolution as a global electric vehicle manufacturer. As the brand’s flagship SUV, the G9 returns this year with key upgrades in design, performance, range, and software intelligence, positioning it as a serious competitor in the premium electric SUV segment worldwide.
Visually, the G9 maintains its sleek and futuristic exterior design, now enhanced with subtle refinements that improve aerodynamics and road presence. The front fascia features a minimalist aesthetic, integrating narrow LED lighting signatures and a smoothed-out grille that emphasizes its electric nature. The overall silhouette reflects a coupe-inspired SUV profile with a clean, sculpted form that balances modern elegance and muscularity. A panoramic glass roof continues to offer a sense of openness and luxury for both front and rear passengers.
Under the hood—or more precisely, beneath the chassis—the 2025 G9 is offered in three distinct powertrain configurations, catering to various driving preferences and regional market needs. The rear-wheel-drive standard-range version delivers 230 kilowatts of power, equivalent to approximately 310 hp, and generates 430 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in around 6.4 seconds. This variant is equipped with a 78.2 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that provides a WLTP-certified range of up to 460 kilometers.
The rear-wheel-drive long-range edition shares the same output and acceleration figures but benefits from a larger 98 kilowatt-hour nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery, extending the estimated driving range to around 570 kilometers. For drivers seeking maximum performance, the all-wheel-drive version offers a total system output of 425 kilowatts, or roughly up to 570 hp, and 717 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and offers a range of up to 520 kilometers. All models are electronically limited to a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
One of the most impressive highlights of the XPENG G9 is its charging capability. It supports up to 11 kilowatts of AC charging for home or destination setups, requiring between 9 and 11 hours for a full charge depending on battery size. On the road, the G9 is compatible with 300-kilowatt DC fast chargers, which can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 20 minutes. XPENG is also advancing its proprietary ultra-fast 5C charging technology, aiming to reduce charging times even further in future iterations.
Inside the cabin, the G9 blends digital sophistication with premium comfort. The dashboard is anchored by a 10.25-inch driver display accompanied by two adjacent 14.96-inch touchscreens, one for infotainment and the other for the front passenger.
The system is powered by XPENG’s in-house software, featuring natural voice recognition, real-time navigation, over-the-air updates, and deep integration with the vehicle’s core functions. Higher trims are equipped with a Dynaudio Confidence audio system featuring 22 speakers and 7.1.4 surround sound, delivering immersive acoustics enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology.
The seating layout is designed for both comfort and support, offering Nappa leather upholstery, heating, ventilation, and massage functions for the front and rear seats depending on the selected configuration. Ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and configurable climate zones contribute to a refined and tech-forward environment.
The 2025 XPENG G9 also introduces an upgraded smart driving platform. While previous models relied on LiDAR sensors, the new G9 integrates XPENG’s next-generation Turing driving system, which eliminates the need for LiDAR by leveraging a camera-based neural network and AI-enhanced mapping. The vehicle comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, automatic lane changing, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system. These systems combine to provide a semi-autonomous driving experience, particularly in highway conditions.
In terms of safety, XPENG has outfitted the G9 with a comprehensive package that includes seven airbags, covering front, side, curtain, and knee positions, as well as ISOFIX anchors for child seats. Electronic stability control, hill descent assistance, emergency call support, and a tire pressure monitoring system further reinforce the vehicle’s safety credentials.
Starting at approximately 248,800 yuan, or around 34,500 US dollars, the XPENG G9 delivers high-end features typically reserved for more expensive luxury SUVs. Despite its flagship status, the G9 benefits from a 5.7 percent price reduction compared to its earlier versions, making it a strong value proposition in the segment.
XPENG has announced plans for continued global rollout, with the G9 scheduled to enter European and Australian markets by the end of 2025, alongside strengthened presence in EV-advanced regions of the Middle East.
