Nadim Mehanna and his MotorShow team took the Audi RS e-tron GT for a comprehensive drive in the UAE.
The Audi RS e-tron GT represents a bold step into the future of electric performance, blending Audi’s motorsport DNA with cutting-edge EV engineering. As the flagship electric model from Audi’s RS division, it combines immense power, advanced chassis technology, and a refined, luxurious interior within a sleek, grand touring silhouette.
At its core, the RS e-tron GT features a dual-motor electric drivetrain, one motor on each axle, delivering permanent all-wheel drive (quattro). The system produces up to 646 horsepower in boost mode and 830 Nm of instantaneous torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, while Performance variants push these limits even further, reaching outputs over 900 hp and reducing the 0–100 km/h time to as little as 2.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest production four-door EVs in the world. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, preserving a balance between performance and range.

Power is stored in a 93.4 kWh (net) lithium-ion battery pack, mounted low between the axles for optimal weight distribution and center of gravity. Audi’s 800-volt electrical system allows for ultra-fast DC charging at speeds up to 270 kW, enabling a 5% to 80% charge in approximately 22 minutes under ideal conditions. Depending on configuration, wheel size, and driving conditions, the RS e-tron GT offers a realistic range between 450 and 590 kilometers (WLTP), although high-performance driving can reduce this figure.

The RS e-tron GT is not just about raw power, it’s engineered for precision and control. It features adaptive three-chamber air suspension, which continuously adjusts ride height and damping based on road conditions and drive mode. Rear-wheel steering improves low-speed agility and high-speed stability, while Audi Drive Select allows the driver to choose from several modes (Comfort, Efficiency, Dynamic, and Individual) that fine-tune throttle response, suspension stiffness, and steering weight. Regenerative braking is adjustable and works in tandem with the mechanical brakes to recover energy while maintaining smooth deceleration. In higher trims, carbon-ceramic brakes are available for even greater stopping power.
Visually, the RS e-tron GT carries Audi’s electric design language with a distinctive RS edge. The low, wide stance, sculpted surfaces, and aggressive front and rear fascias give it a purposeful look. Signature elements include Matrix LED headlights with laser high-beam technology, a closed single-frame grille in gloss black, and active aerodynamic components such as a rear spoiler and adjustable air intakes. Several trim packages are available, including Carbon Black and Carbon Vorsprung, which add exposed carbon fiber details to the mirrors, side skirts, and roof panel.

Inside, the RS e-tron GT offers a driver-focused yet luxurious environment. The cabin features Audi’s Virtual Cockpit Plus, a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen, and haptic controls integrated into a clean, horizontal dashboard layout. The interior materials include leather, Alcantara, and optional Dinamica (a microfiber made from recycled materials), underscoring Audi’s sustainability goals. Sport seats are standard, with ventilation, massage function, and multi-way adjustability available. The steering wheel is RS-specific, with a flat bottom and perforated leather grips, and ambient lighting sets the tone for night driving.
Practicality is enhanced by the GT’s grand tourer configuration. There is seating for four adults, with ample legroom in the rear thanks to a sculpted battery floor. Luggage space is split between a 405-liter rear trunk and an 85-liter front trunk (frunk), offering usable cargo capacity for daily driving or weekend travel.
Technology is a strong point, with features like adaptive cruise assist, lane-keeping assist, 360-degree cameras, remote climate pre-conditioning, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Optional extras include a Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system, head-up display, heated rear seats, and a carbon roof to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity.

As a performance EV, the RS e-tron GT competes directly with the Porsche Taycan Turbo, Tesla Model S Plaid, and Mercedes-AMG EQE 53. It shares much of its platform with the Taycan but emphasizes a more refined, grand touring experience rather than outright track-focused aggression. Unlike some competitors, Audi prioritizes understated elegance, ride comfort, and long-distance usability without sacrificing high-end performance credentials.
Weighing around 2,350 kg, the RS e-tron GT is no lightweight, but its powertrain, chassis systems, and regenerative braking manage the mass with surprising agility. The drive experience is quiet, composed, and planted, with optional synthetic sound generation offering a more emotional connection in Dynamic mode.
Overall, the RS e-tron GT stands as a symbol of Audi’s commitment to electrification, engineering precision, and design sophistication. It is not merely an electric alternative to traditional RS models, it is a new kind of performance car: fast, refined, sustainable, and effortlessly capable in all environments.
